The premature closure charges effective 1st August 2011 are revised and will be as below.
If deposit is withdrawn before expiry of 1 month of opening of deposit
No interest would be payable, no charges will be charged.
Where deposit is held for a period greater than 1 month
The interest on the deposit would be calculated at the rate applicable for deposits of such tenure (as existing at the time of opening of the deposit sought to be broken), less 1%, as premature withdrawal charge; in case the deposit sought to be withdrawn is held for a period that falls between two tenures for which deposits are offered by the Branch, the interest on the deposit would be calculated at the rate applicable for deposits of the shorter of the two tenures (as existing at the time of opening of the deposit sought to be broken), less 1%, as premature withdrawal charge. It might happen that the contracted interest rate at the time of opening the deposit for the applicable tenure might be less than 1%, in such a case no interest will be paid only principle will be paid back.
Upto 31st July 2011, below premature closure charges will apply for Fixed deposits.

Deposits with original maturity upto 2 years
.
If a deposit is withdrawn before the expiry of 1 month of opening of deposit, no interest would be payable.
.
Where a deposit is held for a period greater than 1 month:
i. If the deposit sought to be withdrawn is held for a period equivalent to a tenure for which deposits are offered by Bahrain branch, the interest on the deposit would be calculated at the rate applicable for deposits of such tenure (as extant at the time of opening of the deposit sought to be broken), less the premature withdrawal fee as indicated below;
ii. If the deposit sought to be withdrawn is held for a period that falls between two tenures for which deposits are offered by Bahrain branch, the interest on the deposit would be calculated at the rate applicable for deposits of the shorter of the two tenures (as extant at the time of opening of the deposit sought to be broken), less the premature withdrawal fee as indicated below
.
A 1% flat premature withdrawal fee on the principal and interest, subject to protection of the principal, would be levied.
Deposits with original maturity of above 2 years
.
The premature withdrawal fee would depend on the prevailing market conditions and the cost of replacing the deposit and shall be as stipulated by Bahrain branch at the time of the premature withdrawal.

.
In cases where interest has been paid out, this is adjusted against any payments due to the depositor after applicable penalties consequent to the effecting of premature withdrawal. .
Premature withdrawal would be allowed only if the deposit holder(s) provides a written application for the withdrawal. This application can also be sent through fax, provided the depositor has completed the Fax Indemnity form (in original) before sending the application.
